Project I: Home Volume

A shape derived from the space between the foundation of a house and its roofline. The various objects that break up the connection point of the foundation are cut out of the shape leaving their negative space, creating a chaotic edge that contrasts the more ordered edge opposite.

Project II: light switch

An examination and reinterpretation of a light switch. What the object has lost in functional terms it has gained in significance, managing to assert itself, softly. It creates a hallucinatory moment, prompting reflection and appreciation.

Project III: Body Bench

As a group we designed, milled, and constructed a bench that will live outside the Mt. Royal Station building in Baltimore until May 2023. Each group member essentially designed one shape, and then a surface was approximated between them, and slats were derived from that surface. The bench is comfortable.
