Project I: The Story of the Dear King
This piece is a laser-cutting lamp based on the Buddhist story of a fresco in Dunhuang, China. For each side of the lamp, different layers are designed and joined together to depict one-fourth part of the story and create the special scatter perspective of ancient Chinese painting when the overlap is designed to present the depth of the view. Rice paper is used as the inner layer to present a hazy vibe when the light is on.
Project II: Reborn from the Ruins

This project is an expression of my personal emotion. It represents a kind of mental struggle in a mess and the seek for hope when feeling myself is breaking into pieces. The red strings represent the blood and the danger, which is ineffably visible and frightening in the black background. Those elongated, twisted hands and pieces of the bottle are 3D printed and physically cut.
Project III:

This is a group project which is mainly about making a prosthetic branch for a tree. Different techniques are combined including 3D modeling, CAM in Rhino and the use of CNC machine. After the branch was designed in Rhino, a huge piece of plywood board was used to cut out each layers of the branch which were later stuck together. At the same time, Indian inks and spray were used to paint and decorate the branch while a rectangle box was designed at the center of the branch with two transparent acrylic windows as a gallery space for people to exhibit their objects.

3D Printing and Film Industry
This research discusses the application of 3D printing skills in the film industry, which includes the general introduction of 3D techniques used in the film, the advantages of 3D printing props, and the actual examples of 3D printing props in some sci-fi movies.
