Project I: Title

Replace the “Title” with the title of your piece or a simple description of the piece or assignment.
Replace all the text in this box with a brief overview of your piece (50-300 words)
Load your project images in the gallery below. The exact number of images is flexible, but 3-6 images is usually good for this. Be sure to have high quality documentation of your work. The images should show the work in full, without surrounding distractions. Add detail shots of the work where relevant.

Process

Replace all of the text in this box with a brief description of your process.
In the gallery below, add images that document the process (digital and physical) of making the work.
Lastly, add the digital files related to this assignment.

Project II: Training for the Tournament

Before the beginning of the semester, I started playing Sonic Adventure 2, and fell in love with the Chao. In the game, you can train chao for fighting in an arena. There isn’t a defined size for chao in the game, but I imagined them to be pretty small, so finding an object to scale with them, such as a glue bottle, lead to the concept of training a chao to become strong. Glue bottles come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so for a pudding fairy every bottle would make for a different challenge. The decision to give it a chao-themed label was simply to tie in the theme of strength training.

Process

First the glue bottle was measured and modeled in Rhino. The first version of this bottle was a bit small, and was the wrong diameter. The second version of the bottle was printed without the cap to test different processes in Rhino, and was then painted with gesso and acrylic. The chao itself was made with polymer clay and acrylic paint.

Project III: The Gates

For the third project, my first and main idea was to create a visual of what the Gates of Hell would look like. Using the Lemegeton as inspiration, I chose to make the design geometric, and making the panel double sided instead of cutting through. This way, the panel would give off the feel of a mysterious entryway. The main struggle I had with the design was determining how deep the cut should be, as well as adjusting the measurements of the design itself to fit the panel.
